Nearly everyone has experienced the profound impact that lack of sleep can have on their mood.  Recent clinical studies have shown that even reducing sleep by a couple of hours a night can have a significant effect.  University of Pennsylvania researchers found that participants in the study who slept only 4.5 hours per night for one week were more stressed, angry, and sad, and found that their mental processes had slowed significantly.  When the participants resumed their usual sleeping patterns, they experienced a dramatic improvement in their mood.
